Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

MAY 12

3:17 p.m. — A 72-year-old man, dizzy and nauseated at a home in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro, was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

5:42 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was dispatched for an uninjured 57-year-old woman who fell at a home in the 300 block of N. Poplar St. in Peabody, but the call was canceled before the ambulance arrived.

8:05 p.m. — An uninjured 65-year-old man who fell at a home in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. in Marion was checked by Marion ambulance attendants but declined to be taken to a hospital.

MAY 13

5:47 a.m. — A 62-year-old woman with chest pains at Bethesda Home in Goessel was checked by Hillsboro ambulance attendants but declined to be taken to a hospital.

10:26 a.m. — A 48-year-old woman complaining of back pain after recent surgery was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, from a home in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. in Marion. Marion firefighters helped lift her.

3:23 p.m. — What appeared to be the same patient was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

THURSDAY

5:01 a.m. — A 54-year-old woman with chest pains and high blood pressure at Homestead Affordable Housing, Marion, was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. An ambulance supervisor also responded from Hillsboro.

7:14 p.m. — Goessel firefighters joined a Dickinson County task force in helping battle a wildfire in Meade County.

7:29 p.m. — A 73-year-old man was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita.

11:19 p.m. — A 43-year-old man with an amputated thumb was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

FRIDAY

3:11 a.m. — An 84-year-old woman with a locked jaw at Peabody Health and Rehab was taken to NMC Health, Newton, by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:23 a.m. — A 13-year-old boy whose bike and a van collided on 120th Rd. near Alamo Rd. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Goessel first responders provided initial care. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

11:49 a.m. — Ramona firefighters joined a task force battling a wildfire near Ashland.

1:39 p.m. — With one of the county’s full-time ambulances at a public relations event in Goessel, an 85-year-old woman with a brain hemorrhage was transferred by a backup ambulance from HCH to St. Francis.

2:25 p.m. — A 74-year-old woman with chest pains at Homestead Affordable Housing in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance.

6:02 p.m. — A man not breathing in a bathtub at a home on K-15 south of 200th Rd. was pronounced dead by Hillsboro ambulance attendants and an ambulance supervisor. Hillsboro firefighters initially were dispatched as well, but the call was canceled before they arrived.

SATURDAY

10:52 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance, an ambulance supervisor, and later a Hillsboro fire engine were dispatched to stand by at the request of law enforcement officers until 2:13 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Hillsboro. The medics then went to Date and B Sts. but reported at 2:41 p.m. that they did not have contact with a patient.

SUNDAY

8:24 a.m. — A fire alarm at Country Haven Inn in Hillsboro was determined by Hillsboro firefighters to have been a false alarm caused by a cooking accident.

1:21 p.m. — A medical alarm from a home in the 300 block of N. Washington St. in Hillsboro led to an unspecified patient being taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

3:43 p.m. — A grass fire near a power pole in a ditch on US-50 at Timber Rd. was extinguished within 16 minutes by Peabody firefighters.

5:33 p.m. — A 72-year-old man experiencing dizziness at HCH was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance to St. Francis.

9:31 p.m. — A 2-year-old girl with burns on her eye was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to the St. Francis burn unit.

MONDAY

11:54 a.m. — A 66-year-old man was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health. The call originally went to Marion ambulance.

6:50 p.m. — No damage was reported, but a funnel cloud or tornado was spotted along 190th Rd. between Kanza and Remington Rds. Pea-size hail then was reported south of Hillsboro, near Lincolnville, near Aulne, and at other locations. Dime- to marble-size hail, winds of up to 60 mph, dramatically reduced visibility, and street flooding later were reported at or near Peabody. Pea-size hail was reported after that near Florence and Burns. Storm monitoring ended at 9:23 p.m.
