Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JUNE 16

3:50 a.m. — A 66-year-old woman with heart problems was transferred by a backup ambulance based in Hillsboro from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita.

1:11 p.m. — An 89-year-old woman with low sodium levels in her blood was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke Hospital, Marion, to NMC Health, Newton.

2:49 p.m. — An 80-year-old woman complaining of hip pain after tripping over a rug at Hillsboro United Methodist Church was taken to NMC Health by the backup ambulance based in Hillsboro.

3:56 p.m. — With the Hillsboro ambulance crew en route to Newton, Marion ambulance was dispatched to take a 93-year-old woman short of breath at Parkside Homes duplexes in Hillsboro to HCH. An ambulance supervisor based in Hillsboro also responded.

JUNE 17

1:14 a.m. — An 80-year-old man with chest pain at Salem Home in Hillsboro was taken to NMC Health by a different backup ambulance based in Hillsboro.

4:23 p.m. — An 81-year-old man with an obstructed bowel was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

7:47 p.m. — A 90-year-old woman was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley.

11:05 p.m. — With Marion ambulance out of the county, an 80-year-old man was transferred by the second Hillsboro backup ambulance from St. Luke to Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa Hospital, Wichita.

THURSDAY

12:50 a.m. — With the Hillsboro ambulance crew still out of the county, an 87-year-old man who fell at Parkside Homes nursing home in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Marion ambulance.

7:07 a.m. — A 26-year-old woman with a possible broken leg at a home in the 200 block of E. Grand Ave. in Hillsboro was taken to NMC Health by the second Hillsboro backup ambulance.

7:25 a.m. — Durham firefighters dealt with a fallen power pole blocking the 600 block of Lawrence Ave. in Durham for an hour until an Evergy crew arrived.

12:21 p.m. — A 76-year-old woman with abdominal pain and trouble breathing at Salem Home was taken to HCH by the second backup Hillsboro ambulance.

8:29 p.m. — A lethargic 76-year-old woman was transferred by the second Hillsboro backup ambulance from HCH to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

FRIDAY

2:36 a.m. — A 65-year-old man with cardiac issues was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley.

7:07 p.m. — Winds of up to 75 mph and field dust limiting visibility were reported at US-50 and Nighthawk Rd.

7:51 p.m. — During a severe thunderstorm, Hillsboro firefighters were dispatched to the French Creek area of Marion Reservoir to search for a boat carrying a single passenger and reportedly taking on water. Hillsboro ambulance also was dispatched, but the ambulance and firefighters were told they would not be needed after a fisherman was reported to have towed the stranded boat to shore at French Creek Cove.

8:19 p.m. — A snapped power pole and downed power line atop an unoccupied vehicle in the 100 block of W. 4th St. in Florence was monitored by Florence firefighters until after an Evergy crew arrived.

11:16 p.m. — A 15-year-old girl with appendicitis was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to St. Francis.

SATURDAY

9:21 a.m. — An 82-year-old woman with complications from congestive heart failure at a farmhouse near 260th and Wagon Wheel Rds. was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. Lincolnville first responders arrived within 13 minutes and cared for the patient until the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later.

1:06 p.m. — An 84-year-old man with sepsis was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley.

8:34 p.m. — A 66-year-old woman having trouble breathing at Peabody Health and Rehab was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance.

10:07 p.m. — A 96-year-old woman with low blood pressure at Parkside Homes assisted living was taken to HCH by a backup ambulance based in Hillsboro.

SUNDAY

7:24 a.m. — What appeared to be the same patient was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance to St. Francis. The transfer was delayed because of weather for three hours.

10:34 a.m. — Marion firefighters reported a fire alarm at Marion High School and Middle School that proved to be false.

1:20 p.m. — A 24-year-old man with heart flutters near a truck parked at US-50 and Wagon Wheel Rd. taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance.

3:24 p.m. — An 83-year-old man with angina was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to St. Francis.

5:13 p.m. — A 76-year-old man who may have suffered a stroke at a farmhouse near 140th and Indigo Rd was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance. Tampa ambulance was ordered to stand by in Marion until 6:31 p.m. in case of additional calls.

MONDAY

2:47 p.m. — A 78-year-old woman with a gall bladder infection was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health.

7:10 p.m. — A 42-year-old male inmate with a numb face at Marion County Jail declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

11:42 p.m. — An 83-year-old woman with a locked jaw at Peabody Health and Rehab was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance.
