are, too

Wins are few and far between last week in county basketball. Only Goessel came away with a victory.

Goessel

The Goessel’s boys travelled Friday to Wakefield and jumped out to a 12-0 lead, but the Bombers scored and cut the lead in half before the first quarter ended.

Both teams struggled to score in the second quarter, with Goessel leading 17-9 at halftime.

Wakefield got as close as five points before the Bluebirds took control. Goessel led after three quarters 31-19 and allowed only two points in the fourth quarter, winning their fourth game of the season 46-21.

Trey Gaddis led the Bluebirds with 22 points, followed by Brayton Base with 8 and Kreed Smith with 7.

Goessel (4-12) will be host Friday to Herington (2-13).

Marion

The Warriors lost 70-50 to Moundridge on the road Friday night.

Marion (6-12) will be at home Friday against Sedgwick (5-12).

Before the boys’ game or during halftime, Marion will crown its homecoming queen and king.

Peabody-Burns

Peabody-Burns lost 75-40 Friday night at home to Canton-Galva.

Jameson Miles led his team with 23 points. Ashton Talkington scored seven.

The Warriors (4-10) are scheduled to make up a game Thursday at home against Solomon (10-5).

On Friday they will travel to Centre (6-10).

Centre

Centre’s boys lost 68-16 on the road at Little River .

The Cougars (6-10) will play host to Peabody-Burns (4-10) Friday.

Afterward Centre will crown its homecoming king and queen.

Hillsboro

Hillsboro lost 62-38 on the road Friday at Halstead.

Braxton Hiebert led his Trojans, scoring 19 points scored. Maddox Hefley had six assists.

The Trojans (1-15) will be back on the road Friday against Council Grove (5-12).
