Marion traveled Friday to the Beloit Relays, and a couple of Warriors won their events.

Luke Wessel shined in the 400 and 800, winning both.

“He ran an open 400 for the first time this year and led from start to finish,” coach Grant Thierolf said. “He came back 25 minutes later and did the same thing in the 800.”

Dylan Kraus won the girls 400.

“She ran a great race on a day when she had events spread out from early in the morning to the end of the meet,” Thierolf said.

Jesse Snyder placed third in the 100.

Marion’s boys relay teams placed second in the 400 and fourth in the 100.

Brian Nguyen placed third in discus.

Gabby Newell captured fifth in the 100 hurdles. Teammate Taryn Kraus captured fifth in the 300 hurdles.

The girls relay team placed second in the 400.

“A good solid meet for us at Beloit,” Thierolf said. “It was good to see some new teams and some new athletes. It was nice to challenge some new competition.”

The Warriors will hit the road Friday for a meet at Remington.
