Paul Klassen
Services for Paul Wesley Klassen, 90, who died Feb. 3 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro.
Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Springfield Cemetery near Goessel. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parkview’s activity center.
Born July 26, 1935, at home in rural Lehigh to Peter P. and Anna Victoria (Wiebe) Klassen, he grew up in Springfield Church and was baptized in a local pond.
He graduated from Lehigh High School in 1953. He then went to Denver for Christian service at a hospital.
He married Joanne Rose Dvorak on Oct. 25, 1957, in Denver. They moved to Ulysses, where Paul worked on his uncles’ farm. In 1969, they moved to rural Lehigh and took over the family farm. He farmed until March of 2018, when he suffered a stroke and moved to Parkside Homes.
He was preceded in death by brothers Eugene and James Klassen. Survivors include his wife, Joanne; three children, Perry Klassen of rural Lehigh, Paula Jost of rural Hillsboro, and Kyle Klassen of rural Lehigh; brother Gerald Klassen of Newton; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Main Street Ministries.
