ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies typically are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
May 11 — A wreck in an alley in the 100 block of S. Main St. was investigated. A driver was ticketed for having expired registration. Unspecified other drivers were warned for various equipment violations.
May 12 — Police made a Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion presentation at Hillsboro Elementary School, investigated a noise complaint in the 500 block of E. 1st St., and checked on a resident of the 200 block of S. Washington St. A driver was ticketed for having illegal registration. Unspecified other drivers were warned for various equipment violations.
May 13 — Police performed background checks on door-to-door salespeople and helped sheriff’s deputies with an unspecified investigation.
Thursday — What was reported as a suspicious vehicle near a day-care center was a Department of Transportation vehicle involved in a traffic study. A resident asked about requirements for utility terrain vehicles. Police dealt with parking issues raised by the city’s water department. A driver was warned about an equipment violation.
Friday — Police met with the owner of a dog loose in the 200 block of E. Grand Ave. A driver using a cell phone while driving was ticketed for having no license. Another driver was ticketed for failing to yield and for having an expired tag and driver’s license. A third driver was ticketed for driving with a suspended license. Others were warned for speeding, making a U-turn, and equipment violations. A dead snake was found in the 300 block of S. Ash St.
Saturday — Police dealt with a person with mental health issues in the 200 block of S. Date St. and helped a sheriff’s deputy with a traffic stop in the county. A report of a minor wreck is pending. A driver was ticketed for running a stop sign and another was warned for speeding.
Sunday — A disconnected 911 call from the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. was attributed to a child playing with a phone. Police dealt with a person having mental health issues at Hillsboro Community Hospital and followed up with the parent of an out-of-control juvenile.
MARION

May 4 — A fraud case remains under investigation. The department’s drug-sniffing police dog was deployed in Harvey County at the request of the sheriff’s office there. Police checked on the welfare of residents of a home in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. and warned a driver about an equipment violation on US-56 at Timber Rd.
May 5 — A hit-and-run near Marion High School was investigated, but no report was released.
May 6 — A wreck on private property was investigated, but no report was released. Police helped sheriff’s deputies with an unspecified disturbance in Florence.
May 7 — A bicycle was reported stolen, but no report was released. A driver was warned about an equipment violation at Lincoln and Weldon Sts.
May 8 — A resident turned in unspecified found property. A disconnected 911 call from the 1200 block of Denver St. was attributed to a misdial. Fireworks reportedly were discharged illegally in the 600 block of S. Freeborn St. Police helped a deputy sheriff with a traffic stop at Main and 3rd Sts.
May 9 — Police took an unspecified report in the 200 block of Locust St. and helped a deputy sheriff with a traffic stop at US-50 and 5th St. in Florence. Business doors on Main St. were checked. Drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations in five traffic stops at Main and Freeborn Sts., Main and Thorp Sts., Roosevelt and Melvin Sts., US-56 and Cedar St., and US-56 and Timber Rd.
May 10 — Police received a complaint about an eastbound driver on US-56. No problems were noted after finding an open car door in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Cedar St.

May 11 — A resident complained about a dog loose in the 400 block of N. Coble St. A non-injury accident was investigated, but no report of the accident was released. Drivers were warned about equipment violations at 3rd and Water Sts. and at US-56 and Cedar St.
May 12 — A driver was warned for speeding at Main and 3rd Sts. Police helped the sheriff’s office deal with what was described as an impaired person at the county jail.
May 13 — Police helped sheriff’s deputies deal with an unspecified disturbance in Florence.
Thursday — Police checked on someone at Marion Auto Supply. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 at Timber Rd.
Friday — Police helped Chase County officers investigate a dog bite and Marion County deputies with an unspecified accident. Two drivers were warned for speeding, one for an equipment violation, and one for running a stop sign in traffic stops at Main and 3rd St., Main and Locust Sts., US-56 and Cedar St., and US-56 and Timber Rd.
Saturday — A dog was reported loose in the 600 block o f Lawrence St. A driver was ticketed for having no liability insurance, four others were warned for equipment violations, one was warned for speeding, and one was warned for running a stop sign in two traffic stops at US-56 and Timber Rd., three at US-56 and Cedar St., and one at 5th and Santa Fe Sts.
Sunday — A vehicle, the driving of which a resident complained about, was found at its owner’s residence.
